Overcoming addiction is possible. Learn about strongholds and how to pull them down in your life; a spiritual stronghold is similar to medieval fortress.

Healing addictions starts in the battlefield of the mind. Spiritual strongholds can be torn down that keep people stuck in patterns of addiction. Overcoming the thought patterns that lead to addiction is essential to healing addictions of all kinds: smoking, over eating, alcohol, drugs, sexual addictions and more. There is a connection between stress and addiction and disease and between negative emotions that the Bible calls sins. People who are stuck in a pattern of addiction often focus on the behavior and struggle to stop the unhealthy behavior but the truth is that the underlying negative emotions are the sin that is resulting in the manifestation of addictions. Overcoming addictions and healing addictions is possible as we look at the pathway of temptation into the sin that has us entangled in addictions. We must accept and acknowledge the link between negative sinful emotions and thoughts and addiction in order to get set free.

Major emotional patterns that lead to various addictions are all the result of negative thinking; this thinking comes from spiritual darkness and it is designed to separate us from God and the promises of the kingdom. Addictions are the result of major emotional strongholds. Overcoming addiction is possible as you learn about strongholds and how to pull them down in your life. A spiritual stronghold is similar to a medieval fortress. This fortress is created in our lives through unhealed wounds which are caused by traumatic events in our lives. These strongholds are built similarly to a castle; stone by stone and thoughts by thought. Over a period of time the thoughts become so common to us that we forget that they are there and we don’t recall ever thinking or believing differently.

Believing the lies of a stronghold can create a feeling of security but it keeps us in bondage or in prison on the inside while it prevents others from being able to help us from the outside. When you are dealing with overcoming a stronghold of addiction you cannot simply say no to the addiction. Strongholds are fortresses of thought patterns that give strength to addictions and other sinful life patterns such as depression, stress, and more. These thought patterns give the enemy access to our thought in order to harass or oppress us. A stronghold cannot be attacked successfully head on; instead it must be dismantled thought pattern by thought pattern. Healing addiction is possible as you dismantle the lies that allow that sin to have power in your life.

Strongholds are brought down as we take thoughts captive to the truth offered through Jesus Christ. We must cast down our own understanding and the thoughts that are protecting addiction in our lives. Breaking our agreement with our negative feelings and the enemy’s lies will set us free to agree with the Word of God. Confessing the truth of God and renouncing the lies of the enemy is similar to dismantling the stronghold block by block. Healing addictions and overcoming sinful patterns and negative thinking is possible as we accept the truth and renounce the lies. Break free from addiction by accepting the power over addiction that is available through faith in the Word of God.

http://healingstreamsusa.org/healing/overcome-fear-rejection.html

How Does Alcoholism and Drug Addiction Affect a Person?

There is another school of thought that the addiction is due to a mental disorder and causes physical dependency. The mental disorder must be treated first in order for any treatment plan to work properly.

One more argument is that the alcoholism and drug addiction is due to chemical imbalance. With this belief, it is thought that the addiction must be treated with some sort of medication after detox has been completed.

Scientific studies support each concept but there are no full answers and the fact remains there are millions of alcoholics and drug addicts still out there. When someone goes through the treatment process, his chances of staying clean can range between 16% and 20%. If we want recovery rates to rise, we have to come up with some sort of treatment that will make this happen.

The last thought on addiction is that the alcoholism and drug addiction problem probably has something to do with the life cycle of addiction, which means there is some trauma suffered at one time or another or a painful experience an addict can't seem to get through without the use of some sort of chemical.

An example of this reason for addiction would be the person who can't seem to fit in with others, a painful condition either physical or mental, or a person who may be dealing with another real or imagined problem. The alcoholic or addict may feel there is no other way out of the situation and the addiction begins. The first drink loosens him up and then the numbness sets in and the addict begins the downward spiral.

The relief that an addict may feel is only temporary but it is enough to get the addict over the pain. The feelings that are suppressed by the drink or the drug are something that the addict would rather feel so the continued drinking is never about pleasure; it is always a form of self medication that leads him down a road where returning is that hardest step ever taken.

Effects of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction

The quality of life for this individual will gradually begin to decrease and the addiction will start to be a way to hide from the facts. Each and every moment an addict feels the pain of life, he will choose to take a drink or get high so he can avoid the pain. Alcoholism and drug addiction becomes a vicious cycle from which there seems no return. There are usually only three outcomes: sobriety, prison, and the worst case scenario -- death.

Adolescence Drug Addiction

Adolescence is that phase of life when a person can be easily misled due to their credulous nature. Drug addiction shatters the dreams of such individuals and also has its effect on the near and dear ones. Adolescence is that aspect when we tend to soar high in the sky of success and never look back. The addiction to drugs shreds the wing of success making the abuser a puppet in the hands of drug substances. Since this is an impressionable age the process of weaning away from the drug substance is a tedious job for the relatives.

Stages of drug addiction

Since the progress of the addiction is variable depending on the signs and symptoms the drug addicts can be categorized into the early, middle or late stage. During the initial phase of addiction the addicts experiment with the drugs due to peer pressure and cultivate the habit of smoking, drinking etc. Inattentiveness, lying, stealing or demanding money, late night stays at friends place, poor performance at studying institutes are few of the beginning signs of addiction. Also they may come with symptoms of lack of sleep and appetite at the physical level.

As the addiction progresses the dependence on the drug makes them to avoid company and family members, blame others without any reason and lose control. Their do not maintain physical appearance and are unkempt and shabbily dressed. Any change from the normal attitude is the first indicator of addiction.

In the last stage of addiction there is no need to seek telltale signs as the addiction is evident in the behavior. Getting expelled from school, committing crime, mood swings and paranoia are the extreme signs which the addicts suffer from.

Initially drug addicts always hide from the relatives the fact that they are into addiction. They think the addiction can be left at any point of time. But they are proven wrong in the long run. It is better to learn from the sufferings of drug abusers and be alert in choosing company in the school and college.

In the current era many drugs are available to remove the toxicity of the drug substance and rehabilitation centre are reachable to de addict the abuser, but this is not enough for the completion of the course of treatment. What helps as a healing remedy is the psychological support given by family members. The awareness about the consequences of addiction should be created to keep the adolescence at bay from this evil habit.

How To Be Free From Drugs and Alcohol

Alcohol and drug treatment has changed a lot over the years. The first forms of such treatments were quite brutal; in the dark ages it was thought that addictions were caused by demonic possession, which had many different prescribed ?cures? ranging from blood letting to being burned at the stake. In the 19th and early 20th century, these treatments had improved but little; addictions were then considered forms of insanity and the treatments of choice involved straight jackets, padded rooms, and electric shocks.

What we consider today as modern alcohol and drug treatment didn?t really start until the second half of the 20th century. No doubt spurred onward by the favorable results demonstrated by the rapidly growing ?12 step? program designed by Alcoholics Anonymous, medical professionals began to realize that reasonable and effective alcohol or drug treatment was in fact a possibility. Some of the first forms of these treatment centers formed in this time were not much more than centers where the 12 step program could be taught.

Even well into the 1980?s handing someone a ?big book? (the Alcoholics Anonymous guide) and telling them to go to 90 meetings in 90 days was a common and acceptable form of alcohol and drug treatment. Since then there has been some improvement of our understanding of the disease of addiction, and alcohol and drug treatment has become both more complex and more effective.

The 12 step model can certainly be helpful, but the greatest thing about it is that it?s free for anyone. There is no reason to pay exorbitant fees for such treatments only to get a copy of the big book and a list of nearby meetings; from virtually every city in the world you can find a listing for a nearby AA center in a phone book and get all you need to get started for no charge at all.

This doesn?t mean that alcohol and drug abuse treatment isn?t necessary. Going through a treatment program is a great way to get off to a good start into recovery. Just make sure you select one that is known for providing services beyond just 12 step model functions. As both a recovering addict and a former drug abuse counselor, I can say with some confidence that the best way to boost your odds in recovery is to try out many different forms of treatments; that way you are sure to find at least some things that work for you.

Addictions Are Obstacles To The Best Things In Life

Do you think it is possible to lose your job over cigarettes? The answer is strangely obvious, of course you can. Any addiction carries this risk. Addictions are obstacles to the best things in life, and success in your career is no exception.

Now if you believe this sounds extreme, then think again. The price you pay at work for your cigarette addiction may be more subtle and unfold over a longer time, than say an addiction to hard drugs or to alcohol, but it can happen. Well let us be more a little more blunt here. It does happen.

The reason why cigarettes can hamper your career is myriad. The main reason has to do with those ever changing statistics in the workplace. In the world of modern business, cigarettes separate you from the mainstream. The reason is that most workers do not smoke. Therefore most people do not like you at work, because you smoke. You are a minority, and a somewhat reviled one. That translates into every day tensions that you may or may not be aware of.

For instance, whether they articulate this or not, bosses do not much like the fact that you spend lots of time in the parking lot or on the sidewalk outside the building feeding your habit. They prefer that your priority be your job.

They do not much care for the habit if you practice it in your office either. They don't like the smoke, they don't like the smell, they don't much like the diminished performance that comes over time with a smoker; they don't like the consequences, the health issues, the absenteeism, The list on the side of the column which labels you 'baggage' instead of 'asset' grows exponentially as times ticks on.

Finally, one small point; you smell when you smoke, right? Your boss does not want to sit next to you for the next 20 years. That is a given.

Arguing these points in the workplace seems both pointless and self-destructive. While you have rights, the world of business operates on the laws of the jungle. It is not always fair, and you must know that when you are a constant smoker. If you insist on kicking up some dust, standing up for your liberty, and screaming, "I have to smoke, okay! Get off my back!" then go ahead, knock yourself out, as they say. But when you look at it this way, you will begin to sense how fruitless that strategy is. It is doubtful that this is the way to rise to the top of the ladder.

Also consider the stress factor. If you are aware of these tensions and you continue to try and walk the tightrope which allows to smoke and to work then you do yourself no good. You will not rise to the top this way. More likely, you will quit, placing yourself in the margins when you might belong in the mainstream.

The easier solution might be to consider quitting...

New “Elixir” Claims Success in Treating Cocaine Addiction

NIDA Director Dr. Nora Volkaw said, “The results of this study represent a promising step toward an effective medical treatment for cocaine addiction.”

Many experienced drug rehab professionals are not so enthused about the prospect of a new wonder drug that will treat cocaine addiction with any success. “It is just history repeating itself in regard to drug addiction,” said Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the Narconon Arrowhead residential drug rehabilitation program, Rebecca Pool, C.A.D.C.. “In the 1800’s heroin was invented and promoted to treat morphine and opium addiction. Morphine addicts became heroin addicts. Methadone, developed by the Nazi’s during World War II, was promoted as a cure to treat heroin addiction in the early 1970’s. Subsequently heroin addicts became methadone addicts. Then came suboxone to treat methadone addiction leading to methadone users getting hooked on suboxone and so the story goes. Developing new drugs to treat drug addiction has not worked, history tells us that.”

It is well known that a large portion of the addiction treatment industry has settled on substitute medications as a means to prevent addicts from falling back into their unhealthy lifestyle. According to Narconon’s Pool, “The problem with this approach is that it does not help the individual discover and deal with the initial problems that lead them in the direction of drug addiction in the first place. Here at Narconon we have found that the solution to solving addiction is to help the person rehabilitate themselves as opposed to ‘treating’the symptoms of drug addiction for an indefinite and ongoing period of time.”

The Narconon Arrowhead rehabilitation program uses a thorough detoxification program followed by counseling and life skills training to bring about recovery from addiction. One drug is not replaced by another so when a person completes the program they are completely drug-free. The length of the program varies from person to person but on average takes three to five months. Seventy percent of Narconon program graduates go on to live drug-free lives.

If someone you know is struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol and you want to help them achieve lasting recovery, call Narconon Arrowhead today. There are many places to find an addiction treatment center and it can be as simple as turning on the television. There are ads, radio advertisements, websites, and even the local phone book has some full page ads for these companies that all claim to be the best. No wonder the decision is so difficult to make.

While each center tells you they are the best, how do you know where to go? If you're looking for an addiction treatment center for yourself or a loved one, there is some information to keep in mind. First of all the most important thing to keep in mind is that the long term addiction treatment centers are the ones that show the highest rate of success.

Your addiction or your loved one's addiction deserves the best care because this is an addiction that can not only ruin your relationships, it can kill you if you let it go too far. Your family will suffer and so will all of your friends and co-workers if you don't get the help you need. It was never said that it will be easy, but it is possible and you will be glad you did it.

The first step to recovering is knowing that you have a problem and you are willing to find help. The next step is actually getting into a center that can help you deal with your addiction. While the first two steps were tough, there is one more step that may be the toughest on your physical body and that is getting detoxified. It will be tough but once you make t through you will finally be rid of that physical addiction that kept you going back for more drugs or alcohol even when you didn't want them. Now the rest is all mental and trying to learn once again how to care for yourself in the mental capacity.

Addiction treatment centers are there to provide people with addiction with all of the tools that they need to succeed in their recovery. You will learn how to take better care of yourself physically as well as mentally and with some hard work you will be successful.

Addiction Treatment Centers

Treatment For Alcohol Addiction In 10 Painless Steps And Free Stop Drinking Guide

Most Addictions in general tend to be really difficult to beat, as your thoughts and body will continue craving for whatever you are depriving it of, until you eventually do get a dose of it. It emanates from the cocoa plant and, next to methamphetamine, generates the most mental dependancy of any narcotic. In the short-term, cocaine creates a short-lived powerful high that is right away accompanied by intense thoughts of despair, edginess plus a yerning for more of the substance.

Users usually do not eat or get to sleep adequately and may encounter drastically increased heart rate, muscle spasms and also convulsions. Cocaine users might get paranoid, irritated, hostile and stressed, no matter if they're not "high". Most of the longer term outcomes, in addition to those listed earlier, could cause one becoming easily irritated, mood trouble, restlessness, paranoia and auditory hallucinations.

Tolerance to cocaine evolves so the user requires more to create precisely the same degree of "high", so the addict significantly "feels like he must have" to try more and more to reach the feeling they are after. Becoming caught up in the cycle of cocaine dependancy is rather distressing because the user feels the lows which result from the "fall". A lot of these lows advance a lot more, making the addict isolate out more and more from family and friends as he withdraws more and more into themselves and plots the best way his upcoming "fix".

Whether or not a person is a cocaine addict or choosing alcohol or most meds or some other street drug, he or she experiences similar emotions of aloofness, separation, agitation and, most detrimental of all, despair. Even if they in some manner manage to get them off their particular drug of preference, they can't perform routinely as the poisonous derivatives of cocaine and other toxins fasten up inside fatty flesh of their systems and and this brings about the continuing feelings of aloofness, insufficient energy, hopelessness and any non-optimum sensation you care to list.

Not merely will your family member of friend truly feel as described earlier but any time they're anxious, under strain at work, fatigued, as well as exercising the stored cocaine residues become removed alongside with the old emotions and urges, which may result in reversion and usually do. This could help to make anyone possess feelings of lose hope regarding their family member of friend but don't despair, there is something that can be done about it. Going through the right cocaine therapy program will resolve this.

When looking for a program helping put your loved one through, there is only four considerations that have to be looked for. It isn't important to get overwhelmed by every one of the "methods" available. For those who ask these 4 questions and they also produce the right replies, you will have the right one. Initial question, just what final results do they get and precisely what percentage success do they historically get.

Second question, are drug treatments used for withdrawal and, if they are not, just how do they help the addict with the distress of withdrawal.

Third question, does the individual go through a cleanse system by which the toxic elements are sweated out and are they provided the proper vitamins, particularly one known as niacin (vitamin B3), minerals and also the proper natural oils to help replace the toxic fatty tissue using brand new clean fats.

Fourth question, will they do the final and most crucial phase of their rehabilitation which is to help them discover on their own precisely why they "needed" the cocaine in the first place. This query is very important and a significant portion of it would be that the addict is aided to find the answer for himself without any assessment or input from other people.

In this fourth step with their cocaine therapy program, the addict then should go through a proper training which will provide him the tools he needs to solve his own individual circumstance so he can complete the next step as an intern that might include restoring any harm done and to teach him to go into the major flow of life securely and happily with a bright and joyful future that he can create for himself.

http://www.hawaiiislandrecovery.com/

Addiction Recovery - The key to Abstinence

Have you ever wondered why some people can walk away from addiction and some can not? Why is it that some people fall into the addiction trap, yet others partake in substances and compulsions moderately?

Well, first let's take a look at the addiction equation. The root cause of addiction is the emotional trauma caused by family dysfunction. The reason for choosing habitual behavior to mask that pain is a low level of coping skills. So, it would only stand to reason that the key to abstinence would be a higher level of coping skills. But, what exactly does it mean to possess a higher level of coping skills and how can you accomplish it?

Well, to increase your level of coping skills means to increase your self-esteem. When you have a high regard for yourself and you love yourself addictive behavior becomes repulsive. But, how can you increase your self-esteem?

First and foremost, you must learn to forgive yourself. Most people suffering from addiction find it very difficult to forgive themselves since they bare a burden of shame and guilt not only from their family dysfunction, but also from the pain their behavior has caused others. However, you can forgive yourself and you can learn to love yourself by curing wounditis. You have a choice! You can either continue to feel victimized or you can take a stand and refuse to self-incriminate yourself. You see, you have the same power as everyone else! You are no different! We are all but a grain of sand in the desert of humanity. We are all the same and we are all connected.

Unfortunately, the majority of group recovery programs including the 12-step program are counterproductive to increasing self-esteem. The original Alcoholics Anonymous model requires one to admit that they are powerless over their addiction and to self-incriminate themselves by affirming their defects of character! This misguided and outdated approach makes it nearly impossible for anyone challenged by addiction to forgive themselves or to increase their self-esteem, which is a vital component to addiction freedom. My experience has taught me that admitting you are powerless does not promote empowerment and nor does it increase self-esteem.

So, you do have the power to increase your self-esteem. But, self-esteem is not a commodity that you purchase, or a fruit that is plucked from a tree. Possessing self-esteem and merit for ones self is a product of self-love. To love yourself you must first forgive yourself, and second, you must embark on an inward journey to awaken your true authentic self and your own personal power. This is not only the key to abstinence, but it is also a bullet proof shield against the guns of addiction! To accomplish self-love and an increased level of self-esteem you must first liberate yourself from the dysfunction that caused your emotional pain. In many ways, this requires speaking ones will since it is not likely that you will achieve self-love if you don't acquire your own self-respect!
Best wishes,
http://www.5stepstoaddictionfreedom.com/

http://www.howtostopdrinkingwithoutaa.com/

Regain the control of your life with addiction treatment center

Drug and the alcohol addiction can be harmful for the life of the individual. Heroin is processed from morphine which is extracted from the seed pods of the poppy plant. It is usually injected, snorted/sniffed or smoked. Abusers of the drug take great risks every time they use since they never know how potent the drug is or what it may be cut with.

Injection of the drug gives the user a rapid onset of euphoria that lasts about 7-8 seconds and tends to be the most predominant method of heroin use among those who are seeking treatment. Heroin addiction is killing people everyday and Narconon’s premier facility Narconon Arrowhead located in Oklahoma wants to help save those lives and we have been since 2001 when we opened are doors.

There are thousands of treatment types offered through out the U.S to help those who are addicted. Finding the right treatment for you or your loved one can be a challenge especially if your not sure what to look for.

People always want the easiest quickest fix for just about everything these days but, when we are talking about addiction it’s not an over night quick fix. When a person is addicted to heroin or any other drug they are physically, mentally and emotionally addicted the drug. Everything about the persons life revolves around getting and using drugs. The individual can no longer make rational decisions for themselves or others.

They become unreliable in all aspects, unable to be counted on for anything. Mothers and fathers leave their children alone and children run away from home, communities and families fall apart and it’s all because of addiction. One way we can help change this cycle is by getting educated and educating others.

In San Francisco 1367 heroin addicts were entered into a 21 day outpatient program some of which were on vouchers. The program study compared voucher IDU’s (intravenous drug user’s) to non-voucher IDU’s on pre-treatment needle sharing, demographics and the rate of returning to treatment. The program study was useful in learning something’s about the patients but did it help them recover from their heroin addiction?

The answer is 77 percent returned to treatment again for heroin addiction. The problem here is that these individuals were seeking help and the program failed them. Why, well it never really addressed the addiction. Remember addiction is physical, mental and emotional and all three of these aspects must be handled completely for the addict to achieve real success.

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance abuse and are searching for outpatient drug rehab in San Francisco, call Narconon Arrowhead today. Narconon Arrowhead is one of the world's largest and most effective inpatient drug rehabilitation and education programs with a success rate of over 70% of those who graduate. Narconon Arrowhead offers free addiction counseling, free assessments, and referrals to the residents in San Francisco...

http://www.stopaddiction.com

Get relief From The Nightmare Of Addiction Through A Diagnosis Treatment Center

Alcohol and drug addictions are no less than a curse for the modern civilized society. What can you do to help you win your battle to beat your nicotine addiction? The first thing you must embrace is that you are both mentally and physically dependent on the nicotine and the need to smoke. Most smokers become tolerant to nicotine levels over time. They gradually increase the number of cigarettes inhaled each day just to satisfy their need. The American Cancer Society confirms that nicotine is as addictive to a smoker as heroin and cocaine are to an addict.

One method to quit smoking that has proven more successful than going “cold turkey” is utilizing nicotine replacement. Just as a heroin addict will usually require methadone to stave off withdrawal, there are also unpleasant symptoms with a nicotine addiction. These symptoms can include dizziness, headache, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression and irritability. A nicotine substitute will assist in alleviating these indicators of withdrawal, which usually commence shortly after having the last cigarette and can continue for several days.

Even with nicotine replacement therapies, many smokers do not experience success with their first attempts to quit smoking. Often additional assistance, such as a support group or network of family and friends are required. Many agencies, like the American Cancer Society or Nicotine Anonymous groups provide free support groups as well as hot lines to call when the urge to smoke strikes.

Although some people will be successful with a nicotine substitute alone, most will require support to break the mental bondage of their nicotine addiction.

It doesn’t matter how many times it takes you to stop smoking, the crucial issue is win back your health. Within twenty minutes of having your last cigarette, your blood pressure and heart rate drop. The carbon monoxide levels in your bloodstream reduce in less than twelve hours after your last cigarette.

Your overall health improves daily till after one year of abstinence from your nicotine addiction, your risk of coronary disease has dropped 50%. This alone is worth winning in your battle to end your smoking habit...

http://www.stop-smoking-tips.com

Understanding Addictions

Addictions eventually catch up with you and change your life in such a way that you will have to face the fact that you need help. Recovering from addictions usually happens once you have hit the bottom and finally realize that you need help from outside sources so that you can lead a life that is addiction free.

There are many types of addictions that will have a devastating affect on your life. Addictions, and recovery from them, require that you actively seek help from a source other than yourself. You may want to start by consulting with your family doctor or with an addictions counselor. This is a good place to start since it will be important to access both your emotional and your physical behavior as they are related to your addictions and your substance abuse.

You and your doctor will need to decide what is going to work best for you in order that you stop using your drug of choice. It won’t matter what your type of addiction is since all addictions require the same amount of professional help and support. There are several different types of addictions that you may or may not already be aware of. Addictions include:

• alcohol abuse

• opiates

• food addictions

• marijuana abuse

• relationship addictions

• sex addictions

• gambling addictions

People become addicted to many types of substances. Many people become addicted to medications and other substances. There are some substances that are more addictive than others. For instance, drugs like heroin are so addictive and it can take it only one or two uses

before a person is addicted.

A person who is addicted to cocaine has grown so used to the drug that they feel they can’t live without it. Addiction can be physical, psychological, or both. Physical addiction is when a person has become physically dependent on a substance.

Over time a person will build up a tolerance to that substance, so that they need a larger dose so that they get the same effects. When an addict who is physically addicted to a substance stops using they may experience withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal can be much like having the flu and include symptoms such as the shakes, diarrhea, and weakness.
Believe that Recovery is Possible!

Freedom from addictions is often referred to as “recovery”. There are many temporary solutions for freedom from addictions but there are really only two ways to permanently overcome addictions. One of the most common methods of overcoming addictions is to be firm with the practice of abstinence.

This means that you completely stop using your drug of choice so that you have no way to continue to feed addictions. This means that the alcoholic can never have another drink and that the gambling addict can never again go to a casino or other place where any type of gambling action takes place.

This method of abstinence, however, won’t work with food addictions since you cannot stop eating. Wanting to give up your addictions is one thing, but to actually to follow through with abstinence is usually very difficult for an addict. Many addicts think that they can continue with their addictions but to only use their drug of choice in a moderate manner.

For most people with addictions this is only a dream and wishful thinking. Full recovery from addictions for most addicts will mean a lifetime of abstinence from their drug of choice. For those addicts with addictions that can be controlled by limiting the drug of choice in a moderate manner, there is the realistic goal those addictions can be overcome permanently.

These types of addictions include food addictions, shopping addictions, and sexual addictions. The addict will need to decide how much moderation they need to exercise before their addictions take over with addictive behavior once again. This is the path of recovery from addictions...

http://www.addiction-treatment-info.net

Marijuana Addiction Overview - Effects of Marijuana

Marijuana is one of the most commonly used illegal drugs in the United States. Alcohol might help them deal with issues of trauma, stress, or physical pain. By drinking alcohol they might be getting temporary relief of the loneliness they feel, depression, or stress in their life. Commonly people have known that alcohol can cause serious problem and even dangerous or life-threatening.

There are some term that linked to alcohol abuse such as binge drinking, and alcoholism. Binge drinking means having five or more drinks in one session for men and four or more for women. It also means simply drinking to get drunk.

Commonly, It is the drinking problem for young people, under age 21. In fact, people who abuse alcohol have fewer consequences than the others that have alcohol dependence . It means drink too much and suffer social and health consequences, but never completely lose your control over the drinking like in alcohol addiction. But it isn't a safe way to use alcohol, although it isn't as serious as alcoholism.

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence says 18 million Americans have this problem. Drinking and driving cause almost 50% of all traffic fatal accidents in the United States. Be careful binge drinking can lead you to alcoholic. If alcohol begins to cause problems like missing time at school or work, neglecting child or household responsibilities or trouble with the law and the drinking continues anyway we called it alcohol abuse.

Mostly binge drinking turns into alcohol abuse when the binge drinkers get pressure or stress in their life. Infrequent drink with friends can turn into more serious drinking problem so quickly if we can't manage ourselves. The infection of Hepatitis C can be worse if the patients drink alcohol. Actually the relationship between of an infected person and drinking for developing alcoholic hepatitis is not necessarily linear.

In some cases, hepatitis becomes chronic and may lead to cirrhosis (scarring process on liver), which is generally associated with excessive alcohol consumption. Serious health conditions such as loss of muscle tissue, loss of memory, and loss of testosterone can cause by chronic drinking problem. In fact it also affects every cell within your body, and if this condition stays chronic, it will start to kill cells, and once a cell is dead, it stays dead.

It is a toxin that will come in your bloodstream and run into every organ and cell in your body. Chronic abuse bothers the absorption of important vitamins and mineral. Dehydration also can cause by alcohol abuse. People that abuse alcohol will have the narrow limits of each ion in our body, such as calcium, sodium, and potassium.

Lack in concentration of these ions can produce the excess thirst which may lead to muscle cramps and sudden dizziness or fainting spells.

Watch out, this addiction can cause some severe health problems such as cancer, pancreatitis, high blood pressure, miscarriage, heart failure or stroke, alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and even death. People must care about their own alcohol problem, rather than excuse the behaviour...

Article Directory: http://www.articlerich.com

Is Alcoholism A Drug Dependence?

Several concepts have seen a transformation in past two centuries and one of them is change in moral and cultural values of societies. Use of Alcohol was formerly seen as a status symbol, but with time, it turned into a form of addiction for many. Reasons and factors did vary from regions and different cultures.

Regrettably, it took more time to comprehend that alcoholism is a drug addiction. "Because we have been led to believe that drug addiction or alcohol addiction is a disease.

We have been told that the only way to "restore" is to attend treatment and endless AA, NA meetings for the rest of our lives. " Any drug addiction as well as alcohol addiction is not a disease rather a choice.

One does not has to be a passive bystander to an illusory disease of drug addiction or alcohol addiction; one should give up his willpower; be marked as an alcoholic or "in recovery"; or turn up meetings and treatment for the rest of his/her life! Those that are struggling with alcohol addiction or any other drug addiction reach to a conclusion that generally the typical thinking is not working in their favour.

There are quite a lot of factors why these programs are not happening in a successful manner yet analysts say the main reason is still to be determined. Existing projects and plans are not working because they are based on false theories of human nature and its related philosophy. Neither have they openly addressed the issues and emotions of addictions that tempt an individual.

A lot of people and organisations in cultures like ours that are trying real hard to prove that Alcoholism is NOT seen as a disease, the result of biological, or genetic predisposition. These societies and individuals have a firm personal and social interest in a complete non-physiological model of addictive human behaviour.

Their slant of social problems is based vitally on a philosophical accommodation with a social perception, heralding socio-political correctness as its aim. Although, the fact remains that a large number of people who have had problems with alcoholism or drug addiction in the past renounced all by their selves.

All those at the moment struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction will tell that they have sometimes desist from alcohol or drug use for a period of time. As mentioned before, it is not any mysterious disease, but only a matter of choice. One can be in complete control! No one is stopping you from using that beer, or sniffing powder. If a person wants to consume alcohol or any other drugs, he/she will. Alcohol or drug addicts always find a way. One might be surprised why the substitute to using alcohol or drugs is so difficult to know. One may have to pick up a beer whenever he/she fancy.

However, if someone wants to put back that beer down, all in a while then there are certainly some diseases, meetings, character defects, treatment sessions, counselling etc., to contend with! A large number of people that have had an alcohol addiction or drug addiction issues have renounced on their own: without any of all the drama and struggle...
Article Directory: http://www.articlerich.com
